Through the Eyes of the Kids

Some pictures are symbolical. Vicar, a grade one student whose mother and teacher died during the earthquake drew two mountains, one is red and the other is green but unfinished. The smoke from the red volcano is black and there is a tiny sun in the corner of his picture. Another student drew green field with a black hole in the middle.

Some pictures clearly show that the earthquake affected the school children. They drew ambulance with bleeding people around it, broken houses, faceless people in front of a tent, people running away from their broken houses with sad faces, etc...

Some of them thought that the quake was because of merapi. They drew volcano Merapi and depicted it as threatening.

Some pictures show that the school children are not really affected by the earthquake. They draw images from TV or happy moments.
